Son of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley and eight-time Grammy-winning artist Stephen “Ragga” Marley poses the question, “Why is gun violence happening on a global scale? When, where, and what age does it start?” in the release of his new hit “Ghetto Boy,” featuring Jamaican dancehall artists Bounty Killer and Cobra. The track addresses gun violence with today’s youth, which includes a powerful music video pushing viewers to #breakthecycle. “We see the U.S. media addressing it now to a certain degree, but this is happening all over the world, with or without the cameras rolling. We need to get to the root of the problem, starting from the top down to break the cycle,” Marley states.
“Ghetto Boy” is among the many thought-provoking numbers in Marley’s forthcoming album, Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life, which follows his Grammy award-winning album, Revelation Part I: The Root of Life. The upcoming album is scheduled for a July release on the Marley family label, Ghetto Youth International (GYI), with the concept that reggae has influenced several other genres, such as hip hop, rap, and EDM. Earlier this year, Marley celebrated his birthday by throwing a listening party for the self-produced album, and he is currently planning a U.S. based tour in support of Fruit of Life, which begins this summer. “We are bringing our friends on the road, too. It will be a powerhouse lineup, with some of reggae’s biggest names and best live acts also joining the bill.”
