!Viva La Fiesta! In honor of the 100th centennial celebration of '@OldSpanishDays,' the @SBBowl would like to recognize the history behind why this beautiful venue exists today.
Did you know the Santa Barbara Bowl planning was first derived from the needs and wants for a Fiesta Pageant stage? An impressive 88 years ago, on August 1st, 1936, one year to the month after its conception, the first Fiesta show was presented at the Santa Barbara Bowl!
Fun fact: A path was built from the top of the east side of the Bowl’s canyon to allow the torchlight procession of horses to wind slowly down the hill onto the stage. The procession started downtown and moved up Garcia Road to the top of the canyon path. Can you imagine horses meandering through the Bowl now?
The Bowl family would like to thank you all for your support over these many years! And to our donors, thanks to your philanthropic efforts, the Bowl has grown to be a unique, world-class, and now historical venue!
