Outright Gifts
Gifts of cash allow donors to receive full tax benefits to the extent allowed by law.

Gifts of Securities
An attractive option for donors is through gifts of appreciated securities. Gifts of this type may provide greater tax advantages than gifts of cash. The donor can deduct the current fair market value as a charitable gift and completely avoid any capital gains tax on the appreciation.

Pledges
The Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation encourages pledges as a way of giving to the capital campaign. While most pledges are for a three-year period, longer term (up to five years) pledges can be arranged, depending on the size of the gift.

Gifts of Real Estate
Gifts of appreciated real estate offer another way to fulfill pledges.

Challenge Gifts
Challenge gifts are an exciting way for donors to maximize their philanthropy. The donor of the challenge has the benefit of seeing his or her gift generate twice or three times the original gift, and donors who contribute to the successful match of the challenge have the benefit of seeing their gifts support a bigger opportunity than they could have undertaken on their own. Bowl Foundation representatives are available to meet with major donors interested in exploring the possibilities surrounding challenge gifts.

Foundation Grants
The Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation welcomes grants from public and private foundations.

Matching Gifts
Where appropriate, those who wish to enhance the value of a gift are encouraged to contact their employer to determine if there is a corporate matching gift program in place.

Shared or Hyphenated Gifts
Donors should keep in mind the option of shared, or hyphenated, gifts which enable multiple donors to combine their resources to name a larger gift than they could have been able to make alone. This is an excellent opportunity for donors wishing to leverage their funds to the maximum benefit of the campaign, while receiving maximum visibility and recognition.

Deferred Gifts
The Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation has a bequest and deferred gift program to accommodate the forethought of such donors. Donors interested in this option should consult with their attorneys and financial advisors.
