On Monday, October 1st, the Santa Barbara Bowl welcomed 3,000 Santa Barbara County students for the annual 'Kids At The Bowl' performance!

The Bowl Outreach and the Children's Creative Project presented The Dancing Wheels Company, a professional, physically integrated dance company that united the talents of dancers with and without disabilities.

'Kids At The Bowl' is a core initiative of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation’s Outreach program. The Bowl engages and inspires students with the magic of live performance by presenting educational, culturally relevant performances.

Furthering the mission of inclusive arts and creating opportunities for all, the School of Dancing Wheels proudly opened its doors in 1990. Its state-of-the-art studios were soon regarded as a world-class training center for dancers, choreographers, and educators.

The Dancing Wheels Company’s inspirational mission has touched over 6 million people through performances, school assemblies, residencies, and workshops. Millions more have enjoyed their artistry via appearances on CNN, Good Morning America, 20/20, and the TV special “Christopher Reeve: A Celebration of Hope.”

Dancing Wheels travels the globe, advocating disability awareness and entertaining 30,000-50,000 people annually. With a repertory of over 85 works from nationally esteemed choreographers and a message of inclusion and accessibility, the Company continually expands the reach of artistic possibilities while celebrating the universal spirit of dance. 

This event was made possible through generous gifts from The Blumenthal Family, the Bentson Foundation, and community partners, including the Santa Barbara County Education Office. Children’s Creative Project would also like to thank the City of Goleta and the Towbes Fund for Performing Arts for their support in helping to cover student bussing costs.

Children’s Creative Project, a Santa Barbara County Education Office program, organizes the commitments of county schools and underwrites transportation to the Kids at the Bowl event.
