The Santa Barbara Bowl Board of Directors is proud to announce Karen Kerns as the new board chair! After many years of service as board vice chair and chair of the Outreach committee, Ms. Kerns has been asked to lead as chair of the Board of Directors.
Her dedication and long-time commitment to the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation have shined brightly since 2007. Originally born and raised in Wyoming, Karen has been a resident of Santa Barbara since 1995.
Her past experiences as a music major in college, a band director, and a successful stint in law built an impressive resumé of skills that would ultimately align her with the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation’s mission. She was excited by the Bowl’s dedication to give back to the community by supporting future artists and audiences through Outreach. Joining the Outreach committee in 2007, Kerns has since been helping lead the charge to invest in performing arts education throughout Santa Barbara County.
When asked what she is looking forward to this year, she replied,“I am very excited to support a full season that brings a variety of world-class shows to our community.”
The Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation is excited to welcome its first all-female Board Executive team with the addition of Chair Karen Kerns, Vice-Chair Carola Nicholson, Treasurer Nicki Parr, and Secretary Laurie Bentson Kauth. Kerns commented, “The board of directors has vested to find the best members and it’s truly an honor be asked to accept the position. Past and present members have laid the foundation for this fantastic performing arts venue and its team of supporters. The fact that it is an all-female officer Board just truly happened organically.”
Everyone at the Bowl celebrates this new slate of officers and all its dedicated board members working to fulfill the organizational mission.
The 2022 Concert Season kicks off soon and if you see Karen dancing at Trombone Shorty or some of the other great shows, make sure to say hello… she never misses a show at the Bowl!
