Classic rock icon and legendary performer Joe Cocker died earlier today, he has been battling cancer for a number of years.

Joe Cocker is probably known best for being one of the breakout performances of the original Woodstock. His version of the Beatles “With a Little Help From My Friends” is one of the most recognizable live performances from this festival and catapulted him into international stardom. Some of his other legendary hits include “You are So Beautiful”, ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ “Up where we Belong” & ‘Unchain My Heart’ to name a few.

The last time Joe stopped by the SB Bowl it was to open for Huey Lewis and The News in August of 2012. It was a memorable performance to say the least.

We here at the Santa Barbara Bowl send out condolences to the family, friends and fans of Joe Cocker, a performer who has provided countless memorable moments with his artistry in our community and beyond.

Cocker was at his ranch in Colorado with his wife when he passed away.
