Wouldn’t ‘EWE’ know it, the Santa Barbara Bowl re-ewe-nited with Cuyama Lamb LLC for another fire mitigation cycle.
Over 300 sheep visited the Bowl property in May for a three-week gastronomic journey. The Bowl brought in the herd for targeted grazing – organically clearing brush, invasive plants and fire fuels with potential threats.
Santa Barbara Bowl sits on 17 acres, a sizable portion of which is dominated by shrubs, fire fuels, and invasive weeds. Prescribed Herbivory is an excellent way to reduce these hazards and ecologically manage the land in a way that lives up to the Bowl’s values of sustainability and land stewardship.
If you live nearby or visited the venue, you may have heard the faint sound of bahs echoing through the canyon while the sheep grazed the hillside.
‘Peep the Sheep’ photos were captured during the herd’s short residency by Brian Yearke, Tucker Papac, and Ashly O.
