Long time Concert Club member, Patti Gutshall, recounts her first time at the Santa Barbara Bowl in the late sixties:
“The first concert I went to at the Santa Barbara County Bowl was The King Family. [Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation dropped County in the name in 1991]. My mother took my sisters and me. We sat just behind the ‘box seats.’ The box seats were metal folding chairs, divided by chains to segregate each section. Back then you were allowed to bring in a picnic lunch. It was a very simple stage with basic backgrounds. For years I had the large program. [During that time,] The King Family was popular on TV, [they] even had paper dolls.”
