“The upcoming referendum is not simply a gay rights issue, or a civil rights issue, but one of basic human rights,” says Irish musician Hozier in a recently released video.
On May 22, Irish citizens will be able to vote on the gay marriage referendum, and Hozier strongly encourages citizens to vote “yes,” allowing for gay marriage in Ireland. This is not the first time Hozier has voiced his opinion the subject. Last September, Hozier critiqued oppressive institutions through his music video for “Take Me To Church,” which depicts two men, their love, and violence against them.
