Santa Barbara Bowl announced today that it has reached an agreement with Goldenvoice to become the Bowl’s exclusive concert promoter along with Moss Jacobs, longtime talent buyer for the Bowl, who re-joins Goldenvoice as senior vice president and will lead the booking strategy and show promotions at the Bowl.

Goldenvoice offers the Bowl a broad catalog of world-class artists with the same key concert booker to continue the success the Bowl has already experienced. The transition to Goldenvoice keeps the Bowl focused on serving the Santa Barbara community by offering top-tier talent, diversity among acts and targeted educational opportunities.

“We are excited about this new chapter in the Bowl history, and thrilled about the rich possibilities of re-establishing a partnership with Goldenvoice,” said Rick Boller, executive director of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation. “Goldenvoice can provide the Bowl access to acts and bands that more closely align with the diversity of our community as well as the Bowl’s Mission Statement.”

Goldenvoice was the Bowl’s exclusive concert promoter between 1995 and 2001, with Jacobs booking Beastie Boys as the first act in his role as the key concert booker during that time. Jacobs continued in a similar role starting in 2001 promoting world-class acts including Stevie Wonder, Gwen Stefani, The National, Santana and others.

“The Santa Barbara Bowl is home for me,” said Jacobs. “I’m thrilled to again be working with two industry greats — Goldenvoice and the Bowl. I’m looking forward to an amazing 2016 concert season — and beyond.”

Built in 1936 as a WPA project, the Santa Barbara Bowl is one of the most scenic and intimate amphitheaters in the world, attracting the biggest names in music with its unique ocean and city views from its landmark stage, the Pavilion. Heading into its 80th season, the 4,562-seat amphitheater has hosted an array of musical giants including Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode and many more. Recently, the Bowl was voted best live music venue in Santa Barbara by both the Santa Barbara Independent and Santa Barbara News-Press, respectively.

“Moss Jacobs has been our anchor talent buyer for years and has been integral in the modern success of the Santa Barbara Bowl,” stated Paul Dore, president of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation Board. “Like the local community, we all wait with anticipation and excitement to announce — and begin — the 2016 Concert Season.”

"The Santa Barbara Bowl is an iconic venue with a legacy of hosting incredible performers," said Rick Mueller, president of AEG Live North America. “The Bowl is an incredible complement to our California roster of live music venues ranging from intimate theatres to arena and large scale festivals including Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego, The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, and the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. Moss has been curating amazing performances at the Bowl for over 20 years. We are lucky and excited to have him as part of our team.”
