alt-J’s debut album An Awesome Wave sold over a million copies worldwide and was the 2012 Mercury Prize winner. While making their second album, the band suddenly found themselves in the position of creating a hotly-anticipated follow-up, on top of shrinking from a four-piece to a trio. That album, This Is All Yours, was released last fall to a UK #1 debut, favorable reviews and eventually a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album at the 57th Grammy Awards.

Jungle is a DIY story riding a growing buzz: a BBC Sound of 2014 nomination, 4 million-plus plays of the “Platoon” video, and a sold-out US tour based on one successful SXSW appearance pre-dating their record release. Working from their home studio in Shepherd’s Bush, the core duo known only as J and T created a brace of handmade mini-classics long before appearing on any label’s radar. Two singles, 4 a.m. soul snap “The Heat” and ice-cold, search-and-destroy “Platoon,” span 2014 to 1974, link London to Rio and New York, and connect the feet with the unconscious mind.
