English singer-songwriter David Gray has an unmistakable voice and a seemingly endless amount of effortless talent, as his music has been topping the charts for years. In 1998, Gray released his album White Ladder, which has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and remains the highest-selling album in Ireland. While this was the album that established Gray’s name in the music industry, it has also hindered him. In the eyes of his fans, all his new music pales in comparison to the extraordinary successful White Ladder, making it difficult to continue to make music.
Since Gray has been dealing with this judgment since the album’s release, he was determined to create new music that would be able to stand on its own without the comparison. To do this, Gray, who previously always worked alone, decided to take himself outside his comfort-zone by hiring producer Andy Barlow. Together, the two worked to break down the walls of constraint and create music would come straight from Gray’s heart. After much time and effort, Gray’s album Mutineers, is exactly what he could’ve dreamt it to be.
David Gray is on tour with Amos Lee, and they are making stop at the SB Bowl on July 8! Make sure to get tickets to this event before they’re gone, you won’t want to miss hearing the music of Mutineers, straight from David Gray’s heart!
