12th Annual Summer Round Up at the Santa Barbara Bowl: This year’s artists include Santa Barbara’s own Iration plus Fitz & The Tantrums, Wolfmother, The Strumbellas and special guest. The show will take place Friday, June 3. Doors at 4:00 PM.
Iration is an alternative/reggae group of musicians formed in Isla Vista, CA. A deep-rooted reggae influence is fused with elements of rock and pop to create smooth original sounds –We’re all about luv, states the band. All of the members of Iration met while growing up in Hawaii but formed the band after reconnecting in Santa Barbara, CA. The group released their Hotting Up album in summer of 2015. The album's lead single "Reelin" debuted at #1 on the iTunes reggae singles chart. Iration has been touring nationally since 2008, performing at national festivals like Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Hangout, and many others. These Hawaiian-bred musicians look forward to spreading their original sound and Aloha spirit all the while never forgetting to get a surf in when possible.
Brimming with imagination, energy, and genre-smashing scope, Fitz & The Tantrums defied the odds to become an indisputable phenomenon, a chart-topping, show-stopping modern pop combo unlike any other. Now, with their spectacular Elektra Records debut, More Than Just A Dream, the Los Angeles-based sextet have ramped up the timeless songcraft and soul sonic force that made them a worldwide sensation to fashion a kaleidoscopic milestone that delivers on the promise of their 2010 breakthrough, Pickin’ Up The Pieces. From the studio to the stage, Fitz & The Tantrums give everything they have to anything they do, leaving it all on the floor night in and night out.
When it was released in 2005, Wolfmother’s eponymous debut was exactly what rock & roll needed: a meaty, beaty, big and bouncy genre resuscitator that not only broke through to the mainstream, but broke big. Wolfmother was certified Gold in the States and Triple-Platinum in the band’s Australian homeland. Lead single “Woman” hit top ten on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks Chart and won a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock Performance.” Their songs became ubiquitous, appearing in films, video games, and television commercials. But ten years after their arrival, Wolfmother have returned with what could arguably be called their best work to date.
When a crowd is feverishly singing along with the last chorus upon first listen, you know it's a song that connects. This is what happens when The Strumbellas play ‘ Spirits’ live for the first time, the first single from their forthcoming album, Hope. That experience embodies the essence of what has been attracting fans from across North America to this six-piece Lindsay, Ontario-bred band.
Follow Santa Barbara’s FMLYBND into their reverie. With a sincere dedication to reshaping electronic music with their grunge influences, the band has their sights set on horizons beyond their beach haven. Since the debut of their 2014 EP and their hit “Come Alive,” which has already been featured on FIFA 15, FMLYBND only wants to keep on churning unfiltered, danceable anthems.
