SB Bowl has always believed in the power of the arts in education, which is why Outreach is a proud supporter of Michael Morgan’s “Going Home Project.” This arts residency project takes SB Bowl’s philosophy and applies it to spark conversation around societal issues that affect the youth in our community. On April 7, homeless youth were encouraged to focus their energy on art as a means of expression to discuss their struggle in hopes that it will create change.
“The Going Home Project is an experimental process that applies theater as a catalyst for problem solving. Issues confronting the youth will be approached through a number of artistic modalities to offer them choices about how they want to express themselves and to provide them with the opportunity for critical thinking. The goal is to provide a space where youth coming from situations of poverty, homelessness, social stigma and struggle can claim a personal evolution through art that serves to extend their agency in the world.”
