PLAY. LISTEN. ENJOY.
Pianos on State, an interactive musical experience coinciding with the 2013 New Noise Festival (www.newnoisesb.org). The fourth annual installment will take place from October 10 – 21. Each piano will become its own piece of art as local professional Santa Barbara artists create unique looks. Pianos will be available for musical exploration, impromptu play and group performances morning, afternoon and evening over two weekends (10am – 10pm per piano). Amateur, professional and public musicians alike are invited to sit down and play.
New Noise Music Foundation produces the annual New Noise Music Conference & Festival (Oct. 17-19) and coincides with Pianos on State. The festival brings over 50 bands and speakers to Santa Barbara over three days to perform and discuss the future of the music industry. This year’s lineup includes artists such as Haim, Holy Ghost!, the White Buffalo, Andrew WK and many more.
Creative Collaboration Network in partnership with the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative manages the painting portion of the project. Each year local artists vie for the opportunity to design our pianos. Artists receive a materials stipend, but donate their time, like everyone else involved.
This collaborative project is being supported by the Creative Collaboration Network, Santa Barbara Education Foundation, Santa Barbara County Arts Commission, New Noise Music Foundation, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation all sharing valuable resources to bring this community project to an exciting reality.
