As part of the Bowl’s continuing efforts for Arts Education Outreach, we are pleased to be a partner in this program.Dig out that clarinet, violin, guitar, drum, keyboard — and swing by the Granada to drop off instruments of all kinds to be distributed for to local students at school and after-school programs. From noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, volunteers from the Santa Barbara Education Foundation (SBEF), the Granada, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, and NotesForNotes will staff a curbside collection site in front of the theater. Michael McDonald will be performing at the Granada on Dec. 8 as a benefit for music in our schools. Prior to the McDonald concert SBEF will celebrate its annual HOPE Award (Honoring Outstanding Public Education), with a VIP reception at the Granada. This year’s distinguished honorees are Salud and Gina Carbajal, and the César Chávez Leadership Institute in memory of its late founder and inspirational teacher Pete Relis.They join a roster of exceptional champions of public education recognized by SBEF yearly since 1988.
