SANTA BARBARA BOWL
Destined to become an exciting, unique location for concert goers, The Overlook will be an entirely new plaza, high above the Bowl. Envisioned to have top-quality food concessions, spacious restrooms, a large wrap-around terrace and spectacular view, The Overlook will provide a convenient and comfortable pre and mid-concert gathering spot for patrons seated in the upper sections of the Bowl. Phase One construction on The Overlook will begin immediately following the 2009 concert season and is all about infrastructure, including reinforcement to the hillside to secure rocks and boulders that could be a safety issue during floods or other natural disasters; a new spotlight platform and building; and a new outlook plaza area with sweeping ocean views. Phase One is scheduled for completion in 2010.Large scale grading of the hill-side is being completed now followed by retaining wall installation. The trucks and tractors driving around the hill-sides of the Bowl are working to shore up the exposed hills keeping rock falls and wash-outs to a minimum.
