A little over a month ago, alternative rock band Incubus released their first EP after a long hiatus: Trust Fall (Side A). A fusion of pop-rock, electronica, and funk-rock styles, the album consists of four energy-inducing hits, which include “Trust Fall,” “Make Out Party,” “Absolution Copy,” and “Dance Like You’re Dumb,” all available for order here. Taking a different turn from the slower, melodic tempos on their 2011 album If Not Now, Then When?, the new Trust Fall (Side A) presents a new age of Incubus, from the catchy pop rock rhythm of “Absolution Calling” to the fun, funky dynamics of “Dance Like You’re Dumb” that just make you want to, well, dance.

In an interview with Consequence of Sound, lead vocalist Brandon Boyd mentions, “We do our best to just let it flow through us, which is why each record sounds so different from one to the next. If Not Now, When? — say what you want about it — that was an honest portrait of where we were at that moment in time. Some people love it, some people hate it, some are indifferent, but that’s where we were then. Trust Fall (Side A), that’s where we were two months ago.” According to Boyd, the alternative rock heroes plan to “do another EP later in the year, and then if people put them together, it’d be like a whole record. Then [they] could tour during the year while doing the record.” Luckily, the band will be performing at the Santa Barbara Bowl later this year on September 2nd.
