The Boxtales Theatre Company’s 20 Year Anniversary Theater Festival at the Lobero Theatre is one month away. This 2014 festival will feature four performances this November 13th-16th.
On Thursday, November 13th, Prince Rama and the Monkey King will be performing at 8pm. Prince Rama and the Monkey King is a story told using music, masks and movement: when Rama’s wife Sita is abducted by a demon king, he takes journey to get her back and defeat the powers of darkness. Following the performance is The Odyssey on Friday, November 14th also at 8pm. In this epic, Greek Hero Odysseus tells of his ten-year journey home form the Trojan War. His encounters with Poseidon, Athena, Zeus, the Cyclops, the Sirens and many other adventures are shown throughout the performance.
On the 16th, there will be two performances: Leyendas De Duende Magical Tales of Latin America at 11am, and B’Rer Rabbit and other Trickster Tales will take the stage at 2pm. The first performance explores the rich Indigenous and Hispanic folklore and mythology of Latin America. In the second performance, Boxtales shows self-reliance and creative problem solving on a humorous and magical journey with funny creatures who teach us wisdom, morals, and life lessons. Tickets are on sale now at the box office. Single show tickets are $5 for kids that are 10 years or younger, and $15 for students and seniors. General tickets are $25 and $50 will get you the best seats in the theatre. If there is a purchase of all shows through October 31st you can get a discount when purchasing the shows.
