Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to Record Country Album
Rock legend Steven Tyler of Aerosmith expressed his interest in recording a country album in October 2014, and now it appears the singer is working on an album and expected to sign with Big Machine Label Group within a couple weeks. Big Machine Label Group is a record label based in Nashville, Tennessee (where Tyler has recently relocated). The label has signed well-known country artists such as Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, and The Band Perry. Tyler has begun to collaborate with songwriters like Brett James, who co-wrote many of Carrie Underwood’s hit songs, and Jaren Johnston who often works with Keith Urban and Eric Church.
While country music may seem a big change for Tyler, he has always carried the ability to write country-like songs. In 1995, Garth Brooks took Aerosmith’s 1993 song “Fever” and was able to turn it into a popular country song. In 2011,Tyler and Carrie Underwood performed together at the Academy of Country Music Awards, singing songs from both artists. While the details of Tyler’s work remain unclear, it is expected that his album will be released in 2016.
