143 Dead Concerts Later, Scott Brittingham is Still a Fan

In the same way that the Santa Barbara Bowl breeds music enthusiasts, music enthusiasts help to breed the Bowl. Santa Barbara local Scott Brittingham has used his musical taste and generosity to contribute to the ambiance of the Bowl.

In 2010, Scott donated $1 million to the Bowl’s American Classic Campaign to fund the renovation of the wooded glen located just below the stage. Upon its completion, it was renamed The Jerry Garcia Glen, and a bronze statue of Jerry’s iconic right hand was added as tribute to Brittingham’s passion for the Grateful Dead. As concertgoers trek to their seats, they now have a scenic path complete with a bit of music history to enjoy along the way.
