Foster the People’s latest album, “Supermodel”, was recently released in March. As a part of the album release the “Supermodel” album cover was replicated on a 125-by-150-foot mural put up on the side of a building in Los Angeles in January. The artwork was created by Dutch artist Young & Sick and painted on the building by artist Daniel Lahoda, street artist Leba and graffiti art groups L.A. Freewall and Vyal. Although the mural was scheduled to be painted over, it has been given a full reprieve by Mayor Eric Garcetti. An online petition signed by nearly 12,000 people and coverage of the story in The Times helped save the mural and intervene in Garcetti’s decision. The filming of the mural painting turned to be a video of celebration of the mural’s preservation by the band and fans.
