SANTA BARBARA BOWL
Due to liability and legal reasons, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation removed the Ziesenhenne Greenhouses. Before his passing in 2005, Rudy Ziesenhenne, longtime neighbor to the Bowl and world-famous Begonia expert, sold his Begonia houses to the Bowl. Ziesenhenne wanted the greenhouse parcels to go to the Bowl because of his love and history with the Bowl Foundation. After a comprehensive historical study from an independent resource, every effort was made to incorporate the greenhouses into the environment of the Bowl, but the Foundation ultimately needed to remove the buildings. Plans for the newly acquired land will be developed over the next few Concert Seasons and will be included in the Bowl’s Master Plan and American Classic Capital Campaign.
