What is considered “mainstream music” changes every year and influences the styles of music that follow. Nowadays, we have the soulful voices of artists like Sam Smith and Adele that captivate the pop genre. In the 1970’s, there was another set of popular music that would eventually become timeless hits of the decade. As a child, Diana Krall grew up listening to this popular music, which in turn has shaped her career as an award-winning singer. In 2009, Billboard Magazine named Krall the second-best Jazz artist of the decade, and now she is on tour again with music to captivate the present.
In her new album Wallflower, Krall gives tribute to the hits of the 1970’s by recreating the classics with her personal interpretations. She adds her own style to every song with the help of producer David Foster, who has previously worked with other artists such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Josh Groban. While the sound has changed, Krall brilliantly incorporates the spirit of each song to remind any listener of the comfort and memories the original carries. Also adding to the album are the smooth vocals of artists like Michael Buble , Blake Mills, and Bryan Adams. Wallflower includes The Mamas and Papas’ “California Dreamin’,” Jim Croce’s ‘Operator,” The Eagles’ “Desperado” and much more! You can see the full list of songs (and listen to them) here!
Diana Krall’s Wallflower World Tour comes to the SB Bowl on August 30th. Purchase tickets here and experience the classics in a radiant new way.
