This week's SB Bowl Outreach highlight is Roosevelt Elementary School Orchestra.

This local elementary school orchestra is comprised of 80 students in grades 5 and 6, from ages 10 - 12.

All students learn foundational instrumental technique and musicianship in two classes a week during the school day, as well as two performances each year. Roosevelt Elementary hopes that through this program they will inspire all students to meet future challenges through creativity, collaboration, and positive life changing experiences.

The orchestra is growing each year, and this year the students are planning to participate in a competition in Valencia, California where they will be adjudicated and hopefully, rewarded for their hard work!

The goal is that the competition will encourage and excite students to continue their music education within the community as they move forward into Junior High programs.

Roosevelt Elementary School will be the first Orchestra in Santa Barbara Unified School District history to perform in a competition!

The Bowl is proud to support an organization that not only provides opportunities in performing arts, but is growing and breaking boundaries as well!

Do you know of an organization like Roosevelt Elementary that makes performing arts accessible to the youth of Santa Barbara and could benefit from the Bowl's support? Find out more here.
