The Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation is a respected funder and partner in performing arts education throughout Santa Barbara County. One of the most important components of the Bowl’s mission is to ensure that everyone has access to music — whether by playing or by listening. In addition to hosting concerts, the Bowl invests in future artists and audiences by supporting performing arts education for youth through their Education Outreach. Initiatives include providing critical resources for expanding youth access to performing arts, including symposiums, arts advocacy, mentorship, and needs-based financial support for arts education programs.
Most recently, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation awarded over $112,000 in grants to 21 recipients during its Spring 2017 Grant cycle. Spring 2017 recipients include dedicated in-school programs such as Michael Katz Storytelling, Boxtales Theatre Company, Santa Barbara Dance Institute, and Girls Rock. After school programs were an essential focus for this grant cycle, with funds going to organizations like Children’s Creative Project, Guadalupe Kids Come First, Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra, and Notes for Notes. “We are very excited to announce our ongoing support to local performing arts education,” said Graham Farrar, Chair of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation Education Outreach Committee. “Supporting arts in our community is a top priority for the Bowl, and the contributions of local individuals, businesses, and other organizations, we couldn’t achieve this goal.”
