SB Bowl recently funded a Certified Orff-Schulwerk Music Workshop for Santa Barbara Unified School District teachers. This workshop specifically focused on literature in music education.

Brett Larsen, the 2017 PATOY Award Recipients, shared his thoughts after the workshop concluded:

"Using several classic children's poems and stories, [the instructor] walked us through the Orff approach to reading the stories, teaching children to read the stories, teaching children to create and write their own stories, and of course creating music from those same stories.

I share this with you to thank the Santa Barbara Bowl for providing this fantastic opportunity, and also to show how directly connected music education is to the goals of our district; improved literacy, critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity."
