Gearing Up for El Niño

We’ve all heard the news: this winter will be bringing us the storm of the century —El Niño is coming and the Bowl will be ready!

During times of heavy rainfall, adequate drainage always becomes an issue for the Bowl. This year will prove to be especially problematic due to the amount of loose silt caused by this year’s extreme drought. In order to combat these issues, there have been several inlet redesigns completed on the property. The newest of which, happens to be located halfway up Rex Marchbanks Way.

This specific drainage route will help to redirect the water coming down from the Scranton Overlook in a way that will help to reduce the amount of flooding on the property and will hopefully lead to as little storm damage as possible. This strategic design includes several rock dams, a shelf, and finally a grate that will help to catch the silt while simultaneously channeling the rest of the water down Rex Marchbanks Way — and out of the venue.
