Artist Bio

This is Alanis’ only headlining west coast performance in 2018 other than her sold out performances at The Pearl Concert Theatre in Las Vegas, NV and The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. She will also perform at Arroyo Seco this summer in Pasadena, CA.

With sales of over 60 million albums worldwide, Alanis Morissette is one of the most influential singer-songwriter-musicians in contemporary music. Her deeply expressive music and performances have earned vast critical praise, 14 Canadian Juno Awards, 7 Grammy® Awards (with an additional 14 nominations), a Golden Globe nomination, and in 2015, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Alanis has acted on the big and small screen with roles in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Dogma,” “Sex and the City,” “Weeds,” “Up All Night,” and has appeared as a celebrity guest mentor on “The Voice.”

For her next release, RuthAnne moves into Hip Hop / Soul territory with this social-media-bashing-banger, "Liquid". Produced by MJ&iRoK (Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube) & Cadenza (Jorja Smith, Rag n Bone Man), RuthAnne wanted to release something closer to what she was inspired by, i.e Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse. You can hear these influences in the production and vocals, but lyrically “Liquid” has a very strong modern meaning. RuthAnne says:

"'Liquid’ is basically my response to any haters, fake friends and trolls out there. People seem to just talk on a surface level to each other, but then tear each other apart behind their back, or from behind a computer screen. Everyone has become a critic which means that more and more people are feeling the pressure to be perfect…to portray perfection. I allowed myself to be real about shit that wasn’t so great in my life and then write this song, calling it out for what it is and not letting any of it get to me anymore.”
