Artist Bio

Its time for 92.9 KJEE Santa Barbara's Modern Rock 11th Annual Summer Round Up at the Santa Barbara Bowl. This year brings together some of the hottest names in alternative rock including, Of Monsters and Men, Banks, Walk the Moon and Family of the Year plus special guest. The show will take place Sunday, May 17 at 4:30 PM. Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 PM.

Of Monsters and Men first had the world talking in 2011 with their inescapable and infectious quadruple-platinum smash "Little Talks." An engaging mix of indie, folk, and alternative, the Icelandic quintet's critically acclaimed full-length debut "My Head Is An Animal" [Republic Records] climbed to the top of the Billboard Top 200 chart and has sold over 2 million albums worldwide. Since then the group have delivered revered performances at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Newport Folk Festival, Osheaga, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Pukkelpop, and Splendour in the Grass as well as at countless sold out headline shows around the world.

It’s been a monumental year for rising musician BANKS. The singer was poised to start off 2014 ranked #3 for BBC’s Sound of 2014, and has since become one of the year’s most exciting musical discoveries, recently claiming the title of “2014's Most Blogged Artist in the World” according to Hype Machine’s year-end Zeitgeist. The singer released her first, critically-lauded album GODDESS, which debuted at #12 on Billboard’s Top 200, a testament to BANKS’ songwriting chops and her innovative production choices. BANKS sold-out her first ever North American headline tour this past Spring and then a few months later sold-out THE GODDESS TOUR in both the U.S. and UK. Since the release of her debut EP, LONDON, in 2013, BANKS has gone from being L.A.’s best kept secret to an international phenomenon with the release of GODDESS, which features producers TEED, SOHN, Lil Silva, Jamie Woon and Tim Anderson. The LP moves effortlessly between slinky R&B jams, click-driven, hip-shaking songs, and string-laden piano confessionals, all tied together by BANKS’ unique, simply unbelievable voice.

WALK THE MOON's new album, 'TALKING IS HARD', is a bold statement from the band known for their blissful, quirky brand of rock and roll. Fueled by years on the road and now emerging from months in the studio, WALK THE MOON are clearly unafraid to bear their hearts and their ambition. Formed in Cincinnati by singer/keyboardist Nicholas Petricca, WALK THE MOON built up a devoted following on the strength of their ecstatic live show and their undeniably infectious single "Anna Sun.” A relentless touring machine with an ever-snowballing family of fans, the band quickly graduated from Ohio club scene favorites to an international force to be reckoned with.

To say that Family of the Year has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time would be an understatement. In addition to their debut EP Songbook, the band has issued a pair of EPs on its own Washashore Records imprint - 2009’s Where’s The Sun, 2010’s Through The Trees – in addition to 2011’s St. Croix. Songs from all four discs have made their way onto various international releases. Media attention has come from various corners of the world, including heavy rotation on French radio as well as glowing reviews from NME, BBC, IFC, Rolling Stone and Spin. Recently, the band’s hit song “Hero” was featured in the Academy Award-winning film, Boyhood.
